Number node icon   Number (node)

A fixed numeric constant - click its value to type a new one.

Number node diagram

Left: the node at rest, showing its value. Right: the same node with its value clicked - an inline field where you type a new one.

The Number node is the simplest source in the node graph: a single constant you type. Unlike a Slider, it has no range or step - it's just the one value, held until you change it. Reach for it when a value is fixed and you'd rather not have a draggable control taking up space in the node graph.

Important

If the value stands for a length, it is in millimeters. The working unit relabels the modeling window only; the node graph is always mm. Locus puts a warning stripe across the top of the node pane whenever your working unit is not mm, so the two panes cannot be confused. See the node graph is always millimeters and Constants & unit conversions.

Outputs

  • Value (number): the constant you typed.

Using it

Click the node's value to edit it and type a new number. Wire the output into any numeric input - a radius, a count, one side of a Math node.

Tip

If you find yourself editing a Number often, swap it for a Slider so you can drag it and watch the result update live.
