Rectangle: Directed node icon   Rectangle: Directed (node)

A rectangle from one edge and a perpendicular width - at any angle.

Corner 1 and Corner 2 set one edge - the baseline - and the rectangle is built out perpendicular to it, so tilting that edge tilts the whole rectangle. How far the opposite edge sits from the baseline is the width. It pairs the corner lists index-for-index, one rectangle per pair. For an upright rectangle that never tilts, use Rectangle: XY-Aligned.

Setting the width

The single Width input sets the far edge, and how depends on what you wire in - a point, a number, or a value field.

Through a point

Width from a point wired into the Width input

Wire a point into Width and the far edge is placed to pass through it - the width becomes the perpendicular distance from the baseline to that point. Reach for this when the rectangle needs to reach a specific spot. A wired point takes priority; a number or field is read otherwise.

A number

Width from a number

Wire a number into Width - typed, or from a Slider or Number. Every rectangle gets that fixed perpendicular width; a negative value builds it on the other side of the baseline.

A value field

Width from a value field

Wire a value field into Width (for example Image Sample -> Graph Mapper). Each rectangle's width is sampled from the field at the midpoint of its baseline, so a row of baselines becomes bars whose heights read off the image.

Inputs

  • Corner 1 (point) / Corner 2 (point): the baseline edge.
  • Width (any): sets the far edge four ways: a point (the edge passes through it), a number (in mm), a value field, or a list (one width per rectangle). Point and number lists pair with the corners index-for-index.

Outputs

  • Region (region): one rectangle per pair of corners.
  • Edges (curve): its sides, as separate curves, grouped per shape.
  • Points (point): its corners, grouped the same way.

The three are views of the same shape, so build on whichever suits. For what the shape was built from, rather than what it is, use Explode.
