Chamfer node icon   Chamfer (node)

Bevel corners with straight edges (the straight cousin of Fillet); Edges = bevel segments per corner (1 = a flat bevel, higher = a faceted round).

Chamfer effect: a sharp rectangle (ghosted) with its corners cut flat, the Distance marked by a line from a corner perpendicular to the cut.

Inputs

  • Geometry (any): the shape(s) whose corners to bevel.
  • Distance (number): how far back each corner is cut, in mm.
  • Edges (number): bevel segments per corner (1 = a flat bevel, higher = a faceted round).

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the corner-beveled geometry.

What it is for

Cuts each corner back by Distance and bridges it with straight edges. Edges sets how many: 1 is a single flat bevel, higher values make a faceted curve.

It is not limited to corners between two straight edges. A corner where an arc meets a line, or two arcs meet, bevels the same way. A corner too tight to fit the Distance is left sharp rather than mangled, a Distance of zero or less passes the geometry through untouched, and an open contour keeps its two endpoints.

A path that comes back on itself gets its closing joint bevelled too. Weld a run of open strokes into a loop and the point where it meets itself is a corner like any other, not the one sharp spot left over.
