   Paste in Place (command)

The same paste, laid exactly over the originals.

An L-shape and its copy laid exactly on top, the original showing as a thin edge behind it.

Menu: Edit > Paste in Place | In depth: Duplicate, detach & ownership

Paste in Place is Paste without the offset. The copies land precisely where the originals are, rather than beside them.

It is the paste to use when the clipboard came from somewhere the position matters, and the one to avoid when you want to see what you just pasted, because it is sitting exactly underneath your cursor on top of its twin.

Shortcut: Shift-Cmd-V, or Shift-Ctrl-V on Windows.
