Ray node icon   Ray (node)

A half-line from each start point, through a second point, extended infinitely.

Inputs

  • Start (point): the point the ray shoots out from.
  • Through (point): the point the ray aims through before extending infinitely.

Outputs

  • Ray (curve): the half-line from the start through the second point.

What it is for

A half-line: it starts at a point, passes through a second, and carries on forever that way. Mostly used as scaffolding, something for other geometry to meet or be measured against.

A ray is infinite, so it is not a shape you can fill or thicken. It will not bound a region, and nodes like Fillet and Offset have nothing to bite on. Give one point and a list on the other socket and you get a fan of rays, one per point.
