Important

Deprecated. This node is no longer in the menus. Use Explode, which answers for every shape and takes a group apart a layer at a time. Documents built with this node still open and still work.

Explode Rectangle / Polygon (node)

A closed shape's corner points and edge segments.

A pentagon region, its interior pale region orange, exploded into its five corner points in point blue and its five edge segments in curve green.

Category: Data | Add menu: Data > Explode Rectangle / Polygon

Breaks a rectangle, square, or other straight-edged closed shape into its parts: every corner as a point, and every edge as its own segment.

Note

The input socket is typed any (grey wildcard), not shape-specific - see Explode Segment for why the whole Explode family works this way.

Inputs

  • Shape (any): the closed shape to break apart.

Outputs

  • Edges (curve): each side as its own segment.
  • Corners (point): the shape's corner points.

What it is for

Corners and Edges come out as separate lists, so you can work on one and ignore the other. Feed Edges into Mark as Seam to flag a tile's boundary, or into Offset to thicken only the sides. Feed Corners into Circle or Point on Curve to build something at every vertex.
