Point: Polar node icon   Point: Polar (node)

A point from a radius and an angle, around a center - the clean way to place on a ring or spiral.

Category: Primitives | Add menu: Primitives > Point: Polar

Inputs

  • Radius (number): distance from the center, in mm (default 50). List-aware.
  • Angle (number): in degrees, same convention as Rotate's Angle (default 0). List-aware.
  • Center (point): the point everything is measured from (defaults to the origin).

Outputs

  • Point (point): the resulting point. When Radius and/or Angle are lists, this is a list of points, paired index-for-index - so a list of radii and a list of angles place a whole ring or spiral at once.

How it places the point

Point: Polar builds its point from the center outward:

P = Center + (Radius x cos(Angle), Radius x sin(Angle))

Because Radius and Angle are list-aware, feed a Series (via Math) into them to lay out many points along a curve in one node - the heart of the Phyllotaxis recipe.

Contrast with Point, which takes literal X/Y - reach for Point: Polar whenever the placement is naturally described by "how far out, at what angle."
