PlaceVariant node icon   PlaceVariant (node)

Stamp one member of a Collection onto each site, chosen by Index (0-based, wraps).

PlaceVariant effect: a 3-member collection (triangle, square, pentagon, indexed 0-1-2) stamped one member per site across a 3-by-2 grid, the index cycling so each site receives a different variant.

PlaceVariant node diagram

Wire a Random Per-Point field into Index for a different variant per site (a tile per lattice cell); a plain number gives every site the same member. Rotation/Scale each take a number or a value field sampled where the copy lands

Inputs

  • Collection (any): the set of members to pick from.
  • Points (point): the target sites; one member lands on each.
  • Index (any): which member to stamp (0-based, wraps); a number, a field for a per-site draw, or a list (one index per site).
  • Base Point (point): the spot on the chosen member that lands on each site; defaults to its centroid.
  • Rotation (any): spin about the base before the move; a number, a value field sampled where the copy lands, or a list (one per copy).
  • Scale (any): resize about the base before the move; a number, a value field sampled where the copy lands, or a list (one per copy).

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the stamped copies as a list, each its own group.

The Index input - one member or a per-site draw

Index (typed any) chooses which member of the wired Collection each site receives:

  • A number: every site stamps that one member (0-based; it wraps, and negatives count from the end).
  • A Random "Per-Point" field: each site draws its own index independently, so every lattice cell gets a different variant.
  • Any other value field: sampled per site, so a spatial pattern picks the member.

Rotation and Scale behave like Place's: a number applies uniformly, a value field samples where each copy lands.
