How to get the Locus Studio desktop app running on macOS and Windows.
Locus Studio is a native desktop app for both macOS and Windows. The builds are code-signed: notarized by Apple on macOS, and signed on Windows. They install like any other app, with no security warnings to click past.
Grab the build for your platform from the Releases page.
Locus Studio ships as Locus Studio.app, delivered on its own or inside a .dmg disk
image.
- If you got a
.dmg, open it and drag Locus Studio.app into your Applications folder. - Double-click to open it.
That is the whole procedure. The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.
Locus Studio ships as an installer, a Locus Studio ... setup.exe.
- Run the installer and follow the prompts. It installs the app and adds a Locus Studio entry to your Start menu.
- Launch it from the Start menu like any other program.
The installer is code-signed, so Windows runs it without a SmartScreen warning.
Note
Seeing a security warning? You should not. If macOS or Windows warns you about Locus Studio, the download may be incomplete or damaged. Delete it, re-download from the Releases page, and let us know on Discussions if it happens again.
