Shift node icon   Shift (node)

Rotate a list's order by an amount, wrapping around.

Shift node diagram

Category: Data | Add menu: Data > Shift

Inputs

  • Geometry (any): the list to rotate.
  • Amount (number, editable: default 1) - how many places to rotate. Positive moves front items to the back; it wraps around, so nothing is lost.

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the same items in rotated order.

What Shift is for

Cycles a list without dropping anything: with Amount 1, item 0 moves to the back, item 1 becomes first, and so on, wrapping around. Use it to re-phase an index-driven pattern, or to align two lists that a Place or variant node reads index-for-index - nudge one until the pairing lines up.
