   Elliptical Arc (tool)

An arc of an ellipse.

Five clicks: center, major-axis and minor-axis points define the ellipse (shown faint), then start and end points trim the arc, drawn in curve green.

Menu: Draw > Elliptical Arc | Node: Elliptical Arc | In depth: Ellipses

Define the ellipse first - center, major-axis point, minor-axis point - then click a start and an end to trim it to an arc. Five clicks in all.

The two axis points do more than set the size. The first fixes which way the ellipse leans, so a tilted ellipse comes from placing that point off the horizontal rather than from rotating afterward.

The start and end clicks are read as directions from the center, not as exact positions, so the arc's ends land on the ellipse wherever you click. Both remain real points: drag one later and the arc opens or closes to follow.
