Arc node icon   Arc (node)

The arc is the piece of a circle centered at Center that runs from the Start point round to the End point. The radius is the center-to-start distance; the end point sets where the arc stops. It pairs the three point lists index-for-index, one arc per triple. Unlike the closed circle nodes, its output is an open curve.

Inputs

  • Center (point): the center of the underlying circle.
  • Start (point): where the arc begins; its distance from the center is the radius.
  • End (point): the direction the arc sweeps toward, where it ends.
  • Major (on/off): sweeps the long way round, over 180 degrees, instead of the short way.

Outputs

  • Arc (curve): one open arc per triple of points.

What it is for

A piece of a circle, for when a full circle is too much: a curved side on a tile, a rounded corner, a petal edge.

The three points are a center and two ends, so the arc is built the way a compass would draw it. Major flips it to the long way round, which is how you get the reflex side without moving any points.
