C#: double

Handbook C# · Practical Guide

64-bit floating-point binary number; approximate arithmetic.

Simple example (Example.cs)

Save this example separately as Example.cs. Run it independently of the other examples on this page.

Example.cs:

// PROJECT-EXAMPLE
double amount = 12.5D;
var result = amount + 2;
System.Console.WriteLine(result.ToString(System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture));

Result:

14.5

Syntax

double value = 12.5D;

The type of the variable determines the range and rules of arithmetic. To check the overflow of integers, use checked; for text conversion — TryParse.

        double second = 2;
        Console.WriteLine(first + second);
    }
}

Example 2: another practical form

    {
        double[] values = [12.5D, 2, 3];
        foreach (double value in values) Console.WriteLine(value);
