Protected C# scripts and passwords

Home · C# IDE · C# compilation and decompilation · Protected C# scripts and passwords

Open and save .csx, .cs or .csproj. Choose Encrypt, enter and confirm a password, and save .cse. It contains executable code and separately encrypted originals. Keep your source files separate from the protected copy.

Running .cse requires no password: add it to AutoLoad or a script set and use Run. The IDE displays protected-file metadata. Pause, Resume, Stop and named AutoLoad routines use the same C# runtime.

Choose Decrypt and enter the correct password to restore original source. Every explicit decryption asks for a password. A wrong password reveals no source and leaves output unchanged. For .csproj choose an empty directory to restore the project, code, resources and configuration. Move external linked source files inside the project or correct those references before encryption.

Passwords are used only for encryption and decryption. Exact originals are password protected; executable code can be approximately reconstructed by a decompiler. Passwords are not written to scripts, settings or logs.
